Many people believe that red coatings are superior to blue ones. Nowadays, there are many
telescopes with strong, shiny red coatings on the market. Some dealers refer to this coating as "infrared," "sub-infrared," or "ruby coating," and claim that it is an all-weather, night-vision infrared telescope. Please do not be deceived by such claims. True infrared
night-vision devices use phototube imaging, which is completely different in structure and principle from binoculars. They cannot be used during the day and require a power source to function.
